The Hunter-X
I've hunted whitetail for more then 20 plus years and out
of those 20 years I've spent 19 of them looking for a way
to be scent free. I've use everything from sprays to laundry
detergent and even pine needles in with my clothes bag.
When I went to the ATA show this year I'd seen every thing
you could imagine and they all said the same thing. They're
the best and they work better then the rest. I came away
from the show with a new look on scent control, I was
determined to find something that works. I looked for
months with the same results. The bigger the advertising
the more you THINK it works. That's when it hit me, If I'm
hunting in Mother nature what does Mother Nature do when
it smells?? That's when I remembered the OZONE ALERTS
back in the 70's and 80's. When mother nature has to much
pollution the OZONE shows up to clean it. Everyone used to
think that OZONE was bad, but it is the opposite, Ozone cleans
the air. So if it was good enough for her its good enough for me.
Then I looked were it has been used other then the hunting world.
I found a company called ECO Quest, They had been around for
about 30 years. When the Pentagon was hit by the terrorists on
9-11 they had to do a major clean up and after cleaning up
they had to get the smoke smell out.Eco Quest was able to
provide the air purifiers which removed the smoke odors.
Their technology has been in the NASA'S space shuttles for
year's. Not only do they kill all odors they also kills all germs,
since using the Hunter-X technology which they developed
for hunters to scrub the smell off of them, in my home me and
my family of 4 have not even had a cold. I think this is one of
the best tools I have to have a great hunt.
The Hunt After Using Hunter-X
After receiving two Hunter-X units from www.Purifymyhunt.com
I couldn't wait to try them on a coyote hunt. What better way to
see if they really work, then the nose of a coyote. I set up one unit
in a old small blind I had laying around. I then placed a string
across the inside of the blind just under the Hunter-X and then
hung my hunting clothes on it. It was about 4 hours until the
afternoon hunt, I showered like always and got the clothes out
of the blind with a few laughs from some on lookers from deer
camp, I said you won't be laughing if this works!!! After grabbing
my bow and caller I hit the hills. On the way to one of my
favorite spots. I couldn't get the guys out of my head(laughing
at me). I said to myself, Man I hope I do good. I set up in a spot
I've seen coyotes before but didn't any luck putting them on
the ground. Every time I hunt this spot I get busted. It's a field
down low in a bowl surrounded by woody mountains. I walk
in from the south to the north crossing the interior field to some
old round bales of hay to hide behind, dropping my call and
jack in the box 25 yards out. I got there too early so I was forced
to sit there for about an hour. I was sitting there thinking of the
hunt the weekend before, that ended up in disaster, seen a
few but got busted by nearly every one wearing my 500
dollar charcoal clothing. I was there about 10 minutes when
I saw a red fox crossing the field with his nose on the ground,
when he hit my track's I thought this was it, I'm busted, But to
my surprise he never stopped to take a second smell. In all
my years hunting I've never seen that. That's when I thought
there might be something to this OZONE stuff. Then if that
wasn't enough I saw the big buck I hunted all year without
a shot. There were two 12 pointers that I've hunted for 4 years
and they were within 20 yards of me and never lifted their
heads for 10 minutes of feeding all around me. They never
knew I was around, and they were down wind from me.
I said to myself, coyote kill or not I'm not letting these units
go back. I'd seen all I needed to see within a hour of hunting!
Well it was finally time to turn on the caller to see what I
could do with the coyotes, I hit my favorite 20 minute
sequence on my FoxPro Fury when after about 5 minutes
I caught some movement out of the corner of my eye.
I slowly turned and saw that there was two coyotes
coming in down wind fast. I got set up on them when
I got hung up on something. I said to myself, I just got
busted. I hit the jack in the box to try and bring them in
the last 50 yards. That's when I saw what the problem
was. There was a bigger coyote up wind from me. The
two down wind looked like juveniles, they turned and ran.
I focused on the bigger one up wind from me. He never
saw the decoy. I stopped and hit the caller again. He
circled me with his nose up in the air. I said to myself
here's the real test. He sat there for about 20 seconds
winding and trying to lock in on the noise. He hadn't
busted me yet so I hit the decoy again. He locked in
and came fast. I was set up for a 25 yard shot, when
he got to my window I barked to stop him and let it fly!!
About 30 yards later was the result of my Hunter-X field
test. I knew better then to go running to my prize with
other coyotes in the area. I waited about 20 minutes
and hit the caller again. In about 5 minutes I saw the
two I'd seen earlier down wind again but closer. I hit
the decoy and just like the big boy I'd seen the first one
coming fast. He stopped about 35 yards out and froze
looking at the dead coyote on the ground. I let another
arrow fly. I drilled him in the boiler room. He dropped in
his tracks. I never saw what happened to the first, but I
knew he was a young coyote. So I did what every one
would do. I started barking hard. He barked back to my
surprise so I got another arrow. Here he came in his buddies
foot steps, when he got 40 yards out he saw him. He must of
thought his buddy was laying playing with him because his
ears went straight up which made him take a couple of hops
and I let another one fly. I hit him a little back but I was hoping
I hit a lung. He ran out of sight with his tail between his legs with
one leg dragging. I couldn't believe what just unfolded in a
matter of minutes. I hoped I wouldn't have any problems finding
the 3rd one because it was getting dark and I forgot to pack a
light with all the guys ribbing me. I couldn't wait to get back to
camp with 3 coyotes and a bow. This was a once in a life time
hunt, killed 3 coyotes, seen a red fox walk in my tracks with out
smelling me, and had 2 monster bucks all over me for 10 minutes
without knowing I was there. Life doesn't get much better then
this, It's like I was invisible. I just wish I had this the last 20 years of
hunting. I got up and dragged the 2 coyotes to the road, the
same way the 3rd ran. I was following his blood trail to the road.
I walked another 40 yards and seen him piled up at the base of
a big oak. I let a big yell out and a laugh I couldn't believe I did
it. I've never seen that.
Back At Camp After The Hunt
I drove up with 3 coyotes under my tarp when every one
came out to see if I did any good. After backing up in my
parking spot I had 4 guys smiling at me, They asked if I did
any good? I couldn't help myself I just had to mess with
them after everything they said to me before I went hunting.
I told them I didn't kill anything, everything I seen smelt me
and ran. I heard it then, laughing,I told you so and even telling
me I had 2 great paper weights. That's when I asked them to
grab my bow out of the back of the truck. I never seen so
many shock faces at one time in my life. I heard everything
from you picked them up beside the road to you killed
them the day before. All I had to do was say feel them there
still warm and look at the hole there's a X from my broadhead.
The next thing I was hearing was how much I would take for
them, and I said they could put their clothes in with mine. So
if you have any questions about whether they work or not,
this test said it all. My life has just gotten a whole lot easier.
