Arrow Rest Review's

                  RipCord Arrow Rest by Ripcord

I contacted Ripcord by email and got a response back right away. I told them about my website and asked them if they would be interested in being part of my review, and within 4 days I received a box in the mail from Ripcord with a black anodized fall-away rest. I also received an email asking if I had any questions about the rest and in how to set it up. I couldn't of asked for more.

After opening the box the first thing I looked at was the instructions in the package. It had 5 easy set up steps to follow. If you have any mechanical ability you should be able to set up this rest with no problem. I like the light weight of the rest and the containment arm as well. The containment arm allows you to turn your bow anyway without your arrow falling off the rest, when in the up position. I have only seen this feature with Ripcord. It also comes with a football clip that allows you to attach it to your cable with out serving it. It was a breeze to set up.

After set up I took it to my range and took a few shots to see where I was at with the flight of my arrow. The flight of my arrow looked good, but I always paper tune my bows. I took a couple of shots through some paper to see if I had any tears. I was tearing the paper down, all I had to do was loosen the vertical adjustment block and move accordingly. After that I shot one more arrow and I was on with the vertical. I stepped back 10 feet and shot again,at this distant I was tearing the paper to the right, this time all I did was loosen the horizontal screw and adjusted accordingly, I shot again and I was dead on vertical and horizontal.

Recommendations:

The only thing I would do to improve the Ripcord would be to add some moleskin to the rest to quit it down. RipCord is currently in the process of designing and producing a custom moleskin wrap for the launcher arm. So all and all It is a very nice rest for the money! I would recommend you go to there website to take a look for yourself at:

                       ULTRA-REST PRO BY Q.A.D

Here is a really nice rest for the dedicated hunter. This
rest has it all and then some. Here are the features
that sets it a part from other rest I've seen.

  • THE ARROW WILL NOT FALL OFF REST: Whether stalking, drawing, or during a slow let down, the Ultra-Rest is working (full time) to totally support and capture your arrow.
  • IT HAS LD (Lock-Down technology): New patented cam/brake feature eliminates arrow rest bounce back guaranteeing total fletching clearance.
  • VDT (Velocity Drop-Away Technology): The ONLY rest on the market with a patented feature that allows the ULTRA-REST to fall away only when your bow is fired, NOT during a slow let down.
  • INCREASED SPRING TENSION: New Lock-Down design allows for increased spring tension for faster launcher drop away.
  • SUPER QUIET AND DURABLE: Precision machined aluminum components, internal silicone bumpers, or cam/brake design, and laser cut felt offer superior noise reduction.
  • SHOOT SHORTER ARROWS / INCREASE SPEED: Allows you to shoot shorter arrows, up to 4" shorter than the competition!
  • ARROW WILL NOT DRAG ACROSS THE BOW SHELF: With the ULTRA-REST cocked into the Capture Position via the Thumb Wheel, you are assured total bow shelf clearance when drawing, or letting down.
If that not enough it is also easy to set up. After putting it on my bow it only took 10 minutes to paper tune. For the hunters not wanting to spend a lot of money on a rest they have a less expensive rest that they call the Ultra-Rest Hunter for $54.95. Last time I check a Whisker Biscuit cost that much. So you can not go wrong with this one. Check the out at there website:

    The only thing I would
    recommend is to get one.

  •            LIMB DRIVER BY VAPORTRAIL INC.

Here's the Limb driver, It's a unique rest. The technology of this rest is different from the other rest's I've seen on the market. This rest's launch arm is in the upright position when you get it out of the box, so don't be alarmed. That's what makes it different. After you get it on your bow all you have to do is bolt it on, Adjust your center shot and your arrow level. After you do this you attach the provided D-Loop string to your top limb. When you attach it, Make sure you pull the string tight enough to pull the launch arm down on the arrow shelf until it makes contact and secure it tight. It you do this correctly when you shot the launch arm can not bounce back. I like it design a lot. It is great for some one who like to do it there self but haven't done it much. VaporTrail has a nice rest. The rest is in the middle price range at $99.00 for black/silver and $114.00 for camo. Check them out at:

  •                   LIGHTING W/ WHALE TAIL BY AAE.

This is a nice rest in many way's, It is a spring rest and a magnet rest. The spring pressure is like all other common fallaway's. But the rest also has two magnet, one to speed up the fall and the other to hold it down with out bouncing back up off the arrow shelf. This is another unique rest on the market for 2009. I'm all way's looking for a company thinking outside the box. This this another nice rest for only $80.00, not a bad price either. I have one more AAE. rest for you.

  • AVALANCHE EXTREME,CAMO BY AAE.

Here is the top end of the AAE line of rest's. it like the lighting is a nice rest. The Extreme does not have the magnet's in it like the lighting does. It has a stronger spring pressure in it. It comes with the whale tail launch arm and they also make a custom launch arm for the hunter that own a bow with a narrow arrow shelf, The picture above has the custom launch arm. Both of these rest's have plenty of adjustment to fit just about and bow I've seen. The cost of the Avalanche Extreme rest is $114.00. They both are nice rest's. Check them out at: www.arizonaarchery.com

The only thing I would recommend is to put some mole skin
on the arrow shelf where the launch arm strikes it.

X-CELERATOR FALL AWAY REST BY MUZZY

Here is a new rest from Muzzy. I was familiar with the old zero Effect Rest and was not to sure about this one. After I got it on my bow and read the instructions I saw I wasn't going to be as bad as I thought. The most important thing I can tell you about this rest is this: MAKE SURE YOU DON'T STICK YOUR THUMB OUT WHEN SHOOTING!!! I did just that, It didn't feel good. Other then that the installation of this rest isn't that bad. It is a very reliable rest. If you don't have it adjusted correctly, The threaded rod will bend. I've but this rest throw the ringers and it held up great, And for only $71.95 you can't go wrong. It take a little bit to get use to but once you do you'll like the rest. Here's there website: www.muzzy.com

Just remember to keep you thumb in while shooting.
You can also trim the launch arm down to fit you preference.

    Fall-Away Arrow Rest
    FALL-AWAY ARROW REST BY LIMBSAVER

Here is Limbsaver's new fall-away rest for 2009. It has a lot of nice feature's for this rest. It has a sealed twin ball bearing system. There are two chord attachment point, NAVCOM Technology that reduces vibration and noise. It comes with a arrow holder and a arrow pad to place under the launch arm to silence the slap on the arrow shelf. You can adjust the spring presser by unscrewing two screws on the side plate. It has a Teflon fork on the launch arm to quiet the draw. And it also has two sound dampeners on it as well. This would be a great rest for the beginner. It has straight forward instructions and not to many part's to deal with. This is a quiet rest and a forgiving rest.
For $89.99 not to hard on your bank account either. Limbsaver did it again.

    Recommendations:
You might want to use a different arrow holder, The one Limbsaver provides does not lock the arrow in the holder. For some people they like that extra feature when in a tree, It's not good to drop a arrow out of a rest when that shot of a life time comes walking up. Other then that I can't think of anything else.
